The Reverend Laurie Fields

Rev. Fields grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church there and served as an elder during her high school years. Rev. Fields then went to The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, for her undergraduate degree. Following graduation from Wooster, she attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, for her Masters in Divinity degree. Rev. Fields was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA) on June 24, 2001.

Rev. Fields served as the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, from 2001 - 2006. She was then a member at large in the Presbytery of Utah for 4 years before moving to Marion in 2010. From 2011 - 2017, she served as the Director of Faith Development at First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale. She began her ministry in Harrisburg on July 1, 2017.

Rev. Fields is married to the Rev. Wade Halva, who works for Faith in Place doing environmental justice work with houses of worship. They have 2 daughters, Madeline, age 19, and Catherine, age 16. The family also has 3 cats, Eclipse, Lystara, and Comet, as well as a dog, Molly. 

In her free time, Rev. Fields enjoys sewing, reading, and practicing yoga. She has been an active member of the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois for 13 years. She continues to be excited about new and old possibilities for ministry in Harrisburg.
